Description - Meeker draws most visitors during hunting season, but visitors to this town during warm summer days will be thrilled with its small town charm and endless recreation opportunities. The town is surrounded by BLM and National Forest lands, and is a wonderful place to experience Colorado small town flavor.

- Meeker is somewhat off the beaten track for most folks who live in or visit Colorado. It lies in the northwestern corner of the state on the White River, which provides excellent fishing. The town is surrounded by BLM and National Forest lands. It is a good place to experience Colorado small town flavor. For most of the year Meeker is a quiet ranching town, but during hunting season it changes to a bustling community filled with visitors. (Many hunters use the motels and ranches of Meeker as a starting point for their adventures.) Other attractions to this community include the Range Call Festival on July fourth and the Meeker Classic Sheep Dog Championship Trials in September.
Recreation - The Blanco Ranger District outside of Meeker, Colorado is known for beauty and a diverse array of recreation opportunities. Big game hunting and fishing are excellent and the biggest attractions to the area. Hiking, backpacking, horseback riding, mountain biking and camping may be enjoyed during the summer months by visitors. Cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing in this area offers the solitude and quiet that make these activities so rewarding. Climate - The climate of the region is affected mainly by the mountains that surround it, which can trap storms laden with moisture. This quality brings heavy snows and afternoon thunderstorms to the area in winter and summer, respectively. Days with warm sun are the norm. Summer days can range in temperature from 90 to 45 degrees. Winter days can easily reach 55 degrees and sunscreen is usually necessary. Nights are cool in every season and can be severe during the winter. Always be prepared for precipitation. Hypothermia can strike in any season. Location -
