General Description

Fish are abundant in the inlet and the ocean. Flounder, bluefish, spot, croaker, sheepshead and whiting provide plenty of sport and lots of good eating. Fishing may be enjoyed throughout the year at Fort Macon.

Directions from Morehead City, NC: Turn south on US 70 in Morehead City, crossing the bridge to Atlantic Beach. Turn left onto Highway 58 South. Shortly, you will see the park entrance. After you enter the park, turn at the first right for swimming, picnicking, refreshments, fishing and phone. OR you may choose to follow the park road straight to the fort where you may park and fish Beaufort Inlet.
